An off and on hobby for many years, this hobby developed with the help initially of a Practika camera. In those days, and we are going back some thirty years, I seemed to have more time on my hands and particularly enjoyed developing my own black and white photographs. The sense of satisfaction was great even if the quality was mediocre.
After some and years I progressed to an Olympus OM1n. A lovely camera, small light and with a series of quality lenses. Colour slides were the order of the day and, I suspect like many who developed the hobby through the sixties, there are boxes of slides hidden in dusty cupboards.
Some eight years ago, I graduated to my present camera, a Nikon 801. A truly magnificent camera, it is hardly as small or as light as the Olympus but it takes a cracking photograph and it has served me well in recent years.
A couple of years ago, Jan spoilt me by buying a Kodak digital camera and I have to confess it scores highly for convenience and immediacy. So much so, that I use it far more frequently than the Nikon. The price to pay is heavy as I watch my hard drive gradually filling before my eyes.
